jd, for one, they are a commercial entity.

Let's say I rip my Prince CD's (yes, I have some), transcode them into
crappy quality, then put them online at peterprice.com and put ads
around them? That's qualitatively and legally different from me
downloading a song and listening to it on my iPod.

You can see the difference there, no?
