Many publishers will continue to keep in mind the popularity of the video iPod.
This results in mostly Quicktime compatible media being the choice and preference which is probably the best thing that has come out of Apple ;-)

I also encourage the use of DivX.  See divx.com.  This is excellent technology and I think a fair license:

FLV is also great and in currently most suitable for viewing video on web pages.
