As some have already pointed out, you have several sources available to you.
A friend of mine helps to run these sites:
http://publicdomain4u.com/
http://mp34u.com/
also check opsound.org and magnatune.com
I've been able to contact bands and get permission to use a song in a particular video.... so don't ignore that path if you really find a track that you want to use. It's worth trying to contact the artist(s).
Sometimes, I use copyrighted music without permission.... partial songs or remixes.
I'm not a purist with this copyright respect stuff.... So i feel on occasion i'll just do what I want and call it fair use... give credit to material used and not profit from the work. It would be truly amazing if we ever get contacted to seize and desist in such cases.

I've been watching a fair number of vlogs lately and I want to find
out about incorporating music as an overlay.
I see it all the time with vlogs have a copywritten song used in them
to set the mood.
What are the rules with respect to using copywritten media?
What can I get away with?
What's the unwritten, common sence standard out there?
