It's not the silliest thing, and if you frequent this mailing list ... it cant be the silliest thing you've read.
No offense, but just because you don't think something should change doesn't mean opinions to the contrary are silly or unfounded. It just means you dont wnat it to change. Thats perfectly fine, but Heaths got a point, it wouldn't be an issue so often if there werent at least some good reasons out there to put the idea in peoples head.
There are clearly pros and cons to each model ... squashing discussion as if there aren't ... that is whats silly.
This is clearly a great group, and has great information for those just starting. No body is saying otherwise. The simple question was essentially 'is there a better way for this group to present that information to make it more accessible" for those people who cant follow the topic well enough yet to be like you and join a dozen different groups to find the information.
