Yes, I agree with the comment at the bottom.  Also, sex sells isn't just about pretty women in adverts.  They use pretty men as well.  Think about ads for colognes and aftershaves - very pretty men with nice bodies, blatant sexism, whole ad is very touchy feely, music.  That is not selling the product to  men, it is selling it to women, who will buy the product for their husbands/partners/boyfriends/term of your choice.  And yet, a lot of the professionals in advertising are still men.  Hmm, now who's being sexist against whom?

Sexism exists in all  societies.  Men and women are different (biologically), it will always be there.  What is incumbent on us is to be aware of it, be aware of what we are saying, whom it may offend, and be prepared to apologise when we inadvertently offend someone, and build that into future communication models.

Men are very base creatures at the best of times and there is no way

you never hear a woman doing a Knob joke, now do you? That is one of
the many reasons why women are better than men, but please, you can't
change everyone.

We may disagree over sexism but at least we can all agree on the
universal abomination of men.

Yes, clearly. Overbroad comments and beliefs about women are sexism, but
the same parallel with men is just.. reality. Whether or not you *meant*
that, Charles, that attitude -- which is prevalent during this thread --
is EXACTLY why I refuse to get into this any further.

Yes, I meant to highlight that bit of irony. Refusals like yours to speak up about anti-male sexism is exactly why it remains the unchallenged common assumption behind both "sides" of such questions.
