I have video books and software programs up the wahzoo and when I
have the time I love sharing what I have learned. But this list is
comprised of humans. Humans who make mistakes. Cross the line and
then step back. Things simmer down and then up jumps the devil
(again). Humans that stuggle to do the right thing.
For the most part, I have stayed out of the current wave of heated
discussions, quasi-discussions, flat out insults and less than civil
discourse. Not that I didn't have anything to say but my plate is
full and I get into enough trouble.
I want to call attention to what did happen. When the text was no
longer sufficient people made videos about how they felt. Think about
that for a moment.
Folks did heat up but then they did something very contructive. They
documented the experience. Not only that but Zadi Diaz created a
place to document women vloggers.
And even white males are coming out of the (video) closet and saying
that they are pissed about being blamed for every single wrong that
has occurred on the planet, that they like pretty women and why can
every non-white, non-male person take a joke? (My understanding,
subject to intense correction I fear.)
My point being is that if we just talk about QuickTime, DIVX, h.264
and compression and hosting options what the hell is the reason for
doing this? You might say to make a video but keep the list only for
technical matters. Maybe you are correct. But this list has always
been fluid.
And anyway - when you asked a question most time folks gave you the
answer straight up.
I want to second an idea someone else made - if you are not already
doing this use the digist version. Cuz with the summer coming up and
tempers flair about current events it is gonna get steamy in here.
This current wave of discourse will pass. On a meta level it is
amazing stuff.
