*purpose of the job:**  *
This position is essential in the magazine's efforts to develop its brand
identity and generally increase awareness of the magazine and nymag.com,
their writers, their business success and their editorial content in
international, national, internet and regional media. Through writing weekly
press releases, handling media placements, promoting individual writers, and
generating coverage for weekly editorial content, the person in this
position will help to maintain and grow New York magazine's and
nymag.com'sstrong brand images and market successes.

*Responsibilities:*
*•*         Write and distribute weekly press release on magazine's and
website's content to international, national, trade, and regional outlets
*•*         Pitch, secure, and execute weekly media placements on topics
ranging from breaking news, politics, fashion, movies, theater, real estate,
to travel
*•*         Generate stories in mainstream and trade publications of
magazine and website editorial, business and web site success
*•*         Oversee the daily compilation of media clips about the magazine
and website with help from departmental assistant
*•*          Promote writers and editors as individual brands and
authorities on various topics
•*       *Prepare staff for media interviews
*•*         Manage certain internal communications including sending out a
bi-weekly newsletter reporting on news from all areas of the company
•          Promote magazine special issues, web developments and large
special events
•          Develop and implement special events to promote editorial
content, increase brand awareness, and generate revenue for the company
•           Serve as liaison between marketing/events department and
editorial staff
•           Prepare editorial awards submissions and research and monitor
new awards categories for magazine and website to enter

*Requirements:*
*•**    *Four years public relations experience in a media industry,
preferably including work with publishing clients
*•**    *Four year degree
*•**    *Demonstrated ability to write in a fast-paced environment adhering
to tight deadlines
*•**    *Demonstrated and excellent verbal and written communications skills
*•**    *Interest in and ability to develop and maintain media contacts
*•**    *Ability to develop and synthesize key messages into written
materials
*•*         Excellent organizational skills
*•*         Strong interest in media and current events
