wow...never recieved that question on a treo before,(i'm no camera expert but here goes.)
Keep in mind that you are viewing on a 320 x320 so everything you view like the picture before you take it and the video while recording are going to look crisp and clean (which sometimes fools customer to thinking that camera phones are great) but after you point and shoot or rather record and upload you really do see that you are using a camera phone. All in all its really not bad being that - everyone views their stills digitally these days anyway. Not a lot of my friends are carrying around their photos anymore. Everyone uploads them and then shares - To answer your questions - no there is no software hack to improve the datarate recording but if you are going to do treo recording or vlogging here is a posting with some links to "camphone best practices" from a website that i usually post my training vidcast on. http://palmaddict.typepad.com/palmaddicts/2007/01/getting_more_ou.html and then here is another one on a forum that talks more about it. http://forum.treonauts.com/general-chat/treo-general-chat/123-treo- camera-tricks-tips.html ...all in all you really can do some good work with a treophone and a little editing. This clip i did with my fiance' the weekend we got engaged ( a little graining but hey you can clean it up with the post production) http://mirror21.video.blip.tv/Jwarn3rd-ConfirmationOfEngagement777.mov Good Luck...
