Hey Guys, I just saw it on TV last night and didn't realize there was an online link on the MTV site. I've been on the edge of my seat about this really delicate topic and was waiting to see how it turned out before I posted anything further.
There were two very important people that were part of this story (Rick Rey and Danah Boyd), and I was really disappointed that the piece didn't highlight them as much as it should have or as I would have liked. Danah spent two hours at my place with MTV talking about this stuff and how it relates to online social networks, something she has been studying with much fervor for years (looong post to come on my blog about this). Rick Rey was an integral part of the process in figuring out the steps to action. And then there was the call from MySpace right before the interview... which was interesting. The story about FakeSpace, and why it was featured is also interesting as well. This is something I want to investigate further. There is a meeting with NPR in D.C. in a few weeks that will talk about ways to be more innovative when it comes to social networking, videoblogging, etc. I'm in the process of researching ideas on online youth networks, etc. How they can function better and more effectively. If anyone has any ideas and or resources that they can point me to, please email me offlist. Best if they deal with online social networks as they relate to young adults/teens. Articles, web sites, etc. Thanks again for being very supportive. Sometimes things like this jolt you into asking yourself why you do things. And though I love entertainment, and entertaining and just having fun, and sometimes being unPC (really love it), I'm also grateful that we can use this medium to come up with solutions to more serious issues. I'll let you know when the more detailed blog goes up. Thanks. Zadi show: http://jetsetshow.com blog: http://zadidiaz.com/blog
