Moving to WP is surprisingly easy. I moved at the end of 2005 and it was a breeze. That'd be my suggestion, if it's something you are planning on doing anyway, rather than mucking away at a template at this point. IE does crazy things to a page, so it's a pain sometimes to get them to look similar. For instance, IE shows text a good bit larger. IE has trouble with transparencies (this depends).
