the downside in this effort is the audio

i've seen some great new cameras that shoot some amazing video and
have known people that were bloggin Sundance with a small camera. 
they used a small sound recorder as well to overcome the poor audio in
the camera and just synced it in editing

so if the audio isn't particularly important then you most certainly
can use a small camera, or if audio is important try an external audio
recorder
