We bought some $20 halogen work lights on a stand and some smaller clamp work lights. They get hot and are bright. Diffusion is key. We cover them with parchment paper (used for baking so it can handle the heat) and it helps diffuse the light. It's cheap, portable and we've been happy with the results.
