People are going to be very disappointed if they think the iphone will do a fraction of what a mac with os x can do.
On one level, and architectural level, its true that its os x and the safari browser. But this doesnt mean what it sounds like it means. The most dramatic example of this is the no 3rd party apps stuff. Ive checked more details and Apple have actually not changed their position on 3rd party stuff at all, they've just spun things to try to placate developers. In an age where there are browser based apps, they are saying 'see, this is how you do apps for the iphone, by writing them as you would any other safari-compatible webpage app'. Well even with flash there a lot that desktop apps can do that browser ones cant, and theres no evidence that they are including flash with the iphone. iphoney on many levels, unfortunately.
