Hi everyone. I'm Matt. Though I've been emailing with Jay, who has been fantastic, I've only now had time to introduce myself due to work obligations.
Anyway, I wanted to become a bit more actively engaged in the group, and thought I would start by telling you about my project. Around America in 2.0 is a one-man online film experiment I am currently working on. For the project, I will be posting a video of myself on YouTube asking viewers to house, feed, and transport me on a cross-country journey. For the trip, I am not allowed to pay for or buy absolutely anything, which wouldnÂft be possible anyway because I currently work as a newspaper reporter. Regardless, I will be documenting my experiences as well as those of my volunteers as I attempt to make it around the country and back through the volunteerism and gas tanks of YouTube users. I plan to post my intial request video on YouTube on the 14th of July, with my tentative departure date set on September 15th. That leaves me only two months to hype up this project and find individuals willing to transport me. You can find out more at - http://aroundamerica.wordpress.com/about I'm keeping track of my thoughts on this blog until the official site launches in a week. I'm currently trying to find sponsorship. And, the date is quickly approaching. Anyone have any ideas? I figure I will need about 3,000 dollars as a backup. I also need a good cell phone plan, a new camera, and a macbook. I've been trying to contact J&R for sponsorship, but haven't heard anything yet. If anyone has any thoughts on the project or tips as to where to find sponsorship, I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks so much everyone. And, again, it's very nice to meet you. :) Matt
