Hey Scott and list, A quick (public) report on what happened Friday. We started on time, amazing when you consider one person had to deal with 2 IRC channels (questions), moderate a Talkshoe conference bridge with over 20 people dialed in and a third chat screen and Mogulus (changing the ticker and the bottom third from time to time) with 20-30 people watching, not the same ones as were called in because those guys are linux and complain all the time about Flash plugin. They call in free using SIP.
This was a real baptism by fire, live with no net, just an oldish not even S-video camcoder with a Senheiser mic connected for live audio and the office asterisk pbx for the guest and me to be connected to the callers. Lesson number one: I need a boom mic, better cameras and some mixing equipment to not have two separate audio recordings to deal with. And at least one other person, if only to yell "cue talent!". Back to more about Mogulus. Gotta love some of the features, but I accidentally deleted the entire playlist this morning by clicking on the wrong thing. I couldn't find a way to restore it even though I know the videos were there, only the list was destroyed. Getting the Youtube videos up was easy, re-uploading the rest takes a while. I think for me, the largest potential here, besides the cute production stuff that I'm sure all these video sites will add soon, is having correspondents everywhere that you can switch to. I see Operator11 seems to do this pretty well, they'd be my second platform choice, but for now Mogulus looks really promising. I haven't had bandwidth issues here using 2Mbps or better DSL, but some people in the US on cable modems (which doesn't tell me what their speed is) have complained about it. This is so variable and there's nothing we can do about it. If anyone has gotten this far in this message, I think it worth discussing the pros and cons and I intend to start a thread about this and hope to see discussion.
