I'm a big fan of the Freesound Project, http://freesound.iua.upf.edu/, a CC-licensed database of user-submitted audio, mostly by audiophiles from around the world. Not the best for finding specific sound effects necessarily, but lots of great ambient sounds, some fx, sound art, etc.
