Michael, I just checked and the answer is yes and no.  I am betting 
the person has Vista Basic.  If that is the case those are the only 
options.  If they have Premium or Ultimate they should get the "HD" 
options as well.  They don't give you an option for mpg, any type.  
So if they want something other than avi or wmv they are going to 
have to get a free ware app or pay for a 'real video editing' 
program.  If I remember correctly this was the same with the previous 
version of Windows movie maker.  Hope that helps
