I guess it depends whether people are connecting with the iphone via
edge, or using wifi or using itunes on a computer and syncing. Apple
have the lower-res, lower bitrate iphone export option in Quicktime
7.2 because edge isnt very fast, the 500-700kbits/sec 320x240 mp4's
and h264's that a lot of people are standardised on might be painfully
slow to download on edge.

So will vloggers start to create the lower-bitrate versions for
iphones? I guess it depends just how slow edge is in practice, and
quite how many people end up using iphones for this purpose. Its times
like these the idea of an offline aggregator, so people can download
with wifi and watch later, becomes very attractive, but as apple have
locked development on the iphone, they cant do that just with the
iphone, have to use a computer with itunes or whatever.

I suspect the most sucessful sites that cater for video on mobile
devices, will be the ones that transcode footage to device-specific
formats, thus ensuring every video will be watchable. Unfortunately
they will also need to code their mobile portals to work differently
for different devices, as theres so much variation in screen size,
format support, bandwidth etc.

Cheers
