Your mixer outputs are line level and your camera wants (the lower) mic level.
<http://www.peavey.com/assets/literature/manuals/00512000.pdf> The Peavy manual shows 600 ohm outputs @ page 10. Doesn't look like the Peavy you purchased has an option for changing the output to mic level (as some do). Your camera has a mic input that will want a low-level mic signal - see under 'jacks' and page 77 of the owners manual. While the manual doesn't specifically cite the ohms required, it does state "mic sensativity" which leads me to believe it wants a mic input. < http://www2.panasonic.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/vModelDetail?surfModel=PV-GS150&catalogId=13401&cachePartner=7000000000000005702&modelNo=PV-GS150&itemId=88737&catGroupId=25203&surfCategory=Camcorders+with+SD&cacheProgram=11002&storeId=15001&displayTab=S> Record a bit of the noise, upload, and let us have a listen by sending a link to the offending material. Mic/line mismatch has a distinctive sound, for sure. Know you're probably anxious to have a setup that works. I would take all the stuff you bought (including all the packaging) and march yourself and the camera down to the place you bought it and get them to set you up with a system that works within your budget. Recommend the above procedure to anyone who wants to get external microphone(s) to work with their video camera. So many variables, so much technical shite to deal with conceptually...Bah! Go to your local pro or prosumer audio store and get them to help you put an audio package together WITH the camera. Screw around with stuff until you find a combination that works. Why guess?
