I just tried out the NEW iMovie for 5 minutes in the Apple Store. At first glance, the cropping user interface is a lot nicer than iMovie's "Split Clip at Playhead" method.
I want to play with this application some more, but I think that if someone wants to string together a bunch of clips from a vacation and add effects between them, the NEW iMovie looks like a nice way of doing it.
