Hey all, I don't think this is entirely appropriate to post here, but I really think it is important, so I'm gonna post it anyway. It deals with podcasting, kind of.
Comcast is apparently disrupting peer to peer filesharing: http://www.dailykos.com/story/2007/10/19/213152/62 I think there is something weird with Verizon as well. I've bitched about my crappy cel modem service on the list before, but I'm just shocked by what's happening this evening. I've been trying to download this file: http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast? id=161038776&s=143441&i=19491430 from both iTunes and the PBS site. I've been unable to complete the transaction for over 1 hour. It's a great piece by Bill Moyers entitled Capitalism in Crisis. I've had great service all evening until I started to try to DL this file. Every time I try to DL it, I lose my connection despite the fact that my phone is retaining service. It's really weird. If any of you have any interest in the topic and have Verizon, try to DL it and see if you notice anything weird. I just wanted to share something that, although right at this very moment really doesn't have much to do with us, in the near future we could be getting screwed by something exactly like this. I guess I could be a bit paranoid, but it's very weird that I'm only having problems when accessing 'dissident' materials. Oh and BTW, why doesn't iTunes hold my downloads anymore? I have to start over from scratch again every time I try to DL a file and am booted. That really sucks. I wonder if it happens with the episodes that cost money?
