I haven't used it yet - I'm just upgrading to Vegas 8 - from Vegas 7, but the new version of Vegas does support AVCHD, and of course vegas is really fun to use. So I think if I were going go the tapeless route which would be very cool, I would definitely think of Vegas. For some reason, it doesn't get a lot of mention, but if you like a smooth, intuitive, artistic way of working, then it's worth checking out, and of course you can download it and try for 15 days for free.
