Hi Jill, First off, here's the link to NewTeeVee's page asking for questions for Steve Chen. http://newteevee.com/2007/11/11/questions-for-youtubes-steve-chen/ or, if that doesn't work when clicked, try this: http://tinyurl.com/2f5ry7
I was going to post it here anyway, since I'm sure other people have questions they'd like to put to him. Anyway, you don't sound lame :) I learnt it all from scratch right here, too. Having your own videoblog away from Youtube is a very simple and rewarding thing to do, particularly if you create regular content. You can copy & paste your YouTube videos into your blog posts. That way you don't have to lose subscribers by leaving Youtube. And you can control comments a lot better - just disabling them on Youtube totally. Making it harder for people to harrass you. If they do follow you to your blog to harrass you, each comment they send you will come with their IP address - which is a number unique (in most cases) to their internet connection. With your own Wordpress blog, you can blacklist those specific IP addresses in your blog's simple control panel. Get a comment from a stalker, copy the IP address from their comment into your blog's IP-blocking box, and bam, their internet connection is blocked. For this reason, the best blog to use is a Wordpress blog, running the new Show In A Box theme that people on this list have created. You can download everything you need to at http://showinabox.tv/ You can find other help and advice about videoblogs at http://freevlog.org/ If this is all too complicated for you, you could try Revver as well as Blip - Revver's aim is to share advertising revenues with you. In fact, you could upload to multiple video services to see which suits you best. Others include Vimeo, Brightcove, Veoh, all of whom would be happy to have your content on there, I think. A service that a lot of people here have been talking about, that handles uploading to multiple services for you is http://tubemogul.com/ Hope this wasn't too rambly or confusing.
