I only just processed something cool.

Share on Ovi - Nokia's photo and video sharing site - do automatic
conversion of videos to 3gp mobile phone format.

They also give you your own Mobile channel, optimised for mobile
browsing.

I want people to be able to watch on their phones, but the number who
actually do isn't worth the effort of transcoding every video to 3gp
and uploading. Just one more thing to do.

Also, I don't particularly want the hassle of maintaining a mobile
version of my blog. Even though it loads OK in most new phones, it
takes a while and the Wordpress setup and layout is far from ideal on
a small screen or a slow connection.

The Share On Ovi thing is a perfect solution for me.

I upload my video to Ovi at the same time as to Blip, YouTube and
Vimeo - either by email from my phone or by multiple tabs in Firefox.

Then I add a link to the 3gp version on Ovi in my blog post,
alongside the other formats (mp4, flv).

But best of all, I have a "Watch This On Your Phone" link at the top
of my blog which takes people to my own Mobile Channel on Ovi

So all my videos are quickly and easily browsable and commentable
even on a small screen or a low speed connection. It's here:
http://share.ovi.com/mobile/channel/ruperthowe.public

And I don't mind the extra effort of uploading to Ovi because not
only does it do the transcoding, hosting & channel organising of my
3gp videos, it gets new viewers. There's not much competition on
there at the moment in terms of interesting video content. My films
are featured on the home page most of the time.
