I run Final Cut Express on A 13" MacBook Pro. I have very few issues with it.
I have it configured with 4GB of RAM and I swapped the slow 5400RPM drive for a
7200RPM one. I also use an external Lacie 7200RPM bus powered FW800 external
drive as scratch and storage.
It works great for me because it allows me to edit in the field or on long
plane trips and easily connects to the big monitor when I am at home.
It does drop frames occasionally probably due to the low RAM in the machine but
that is only a minor inconvience.
