Hello -

I'm wondering what librarians are doing when videos in their catalog are
also available (legally) for free online, either as a download or in a
streaming format. Do you usually add a link from the catalog record to
the website?

Also, has anyone been adding new catalog records for video resources
online (that aren't already in your collection)?

Very curious about this - I'm not a librarian myself but am working on a
project to digitize some older videotapes in our collection, and we'll
be adding URLs to streaming versions of these videos to our catalog.

thanks,

VIDEOLIB is intended to encourage the broad and lively discussion of issues
relating to the selection, evaluation, acquisition, bibliographic control,
preservation, and use of current and evolving video formats in libraries and
related institutions. It is hoped that the list will serve as an effective
working tool for video librarians, as well as a channel of communication
between libraries, educational institutions, and video producers and
distributors.
