YIKES! My husband just had an appendectomy Sunday so I am only getting to this now. I can hardly believe it. Mostly because I have a lot of trouble downloading RealPlayer on both office and work computers so I don't have the latest version.
But for a decade we have been using RealMedia precisely because it was hard to download. It fit Larry's description, "hackable if a student has the skills, motivation and the right shareware." Most of what we are putting online is not terribly valuable (audio labs for students) but I hadn't realized that they had become less secure. It is hoped that the list will serve as an effective working tool for video librarians, as well as a channel of communication between libraries,educational institutions, and video producers and distributors.
