Hi, all,

Not video, but sound recordings. We are reviewing our standing orders
with Midwest for sound recordings. Right now, we have their Hit Makers,
and Chart Toppers, along with top 75 Latin Charts, and top 25 Country
Charts. The main Chart Toppers covers anything that makes the Billboard
200. There are questions from some of our staff that the Chart Toppers
is not cost efficient, since the sales for many of the titles aren't
very high. There is also a concern that staff haven't heard of many of
the music groups (who has?), and that many of the groups are regionally
popular, but not known nationally. Does anyone else use these services?
What do you like about them? What don't you like? Have you stopped
using them, and why? Thanks in advance.

VIDEOLIB is intended to encourage the broad and lively discussion of issues
relating to the selection, evaluation, acquisition, bibliographic control,
preservation, and use of current and evolving video formats in libraries and
related institutions. It is hoped that the list will serve as an effective
working tool for video librarians, as well as a channel of communication
between libraries, educational institutions, and video producers and
distributors.
