Thanks, Chris, for a good laugh. We had a similar con here in San Antonio last
week for fans of Anime.

Subject: [Videolib] My daughter the Avatar

Hi All,

Off topic here but I just wanted to share:

Last weekend my daughter Lauren (a senior in HS) attended the ConnectiCon
Convention--a multi-faceted pop culture event http://connecticon.org/
<http://connecticon.org/> . She and her friends dressed up as their favorite
videogame characters. Lauren's favorite character turns out to be Sam Fisher
of Splinter Cell fame (What can I say? My daughter the intelligence
operative....)

We purchased a bunch of gear from Amazon (guess who's name is now on some FBI
list!) and fashioned her night vision goggles from a pair of protective goggles
along with some PVC pipe connectors we purchased at Home Depot. She supplied
her own air gun.

This was much more fun for her than her prom was (picture added for comparison)

VIDEOLIB is intended to encourage the broad and lively discussion of issues
relating to the selection, evaluation, acquisition, bibliographic control,
preservation, and use of current and evolving video formats in libraries and
related institutions. It is hoped that the list will serve as an effective
working tool for video librarians, as well as a channel of communication
between libraries, educational institutions, and video producers and
distributors.
