Jessica, I agree wholeheartedly about Universal. We had to demonstrate that we were a reliable venue to handle their prints - fortunately, we have a dual projector system on campus and hire a professional technician to project all prints and maintain the equipment. I still can't forget the GORGEOUS print of Sternberg's THE SCARLET EMPRESS that we received from them.
Universal's rental print inventory was devastated by the fire in their storage vault in L.A., but they've demonstrated a real commitment to maintaining an active 35mm rental collection. Apparently they have struck or tracked down many replacement prints since then. They have my greatest respect. --James -- James M. I am old enough to remember when they were BY FAR the best. Very sad to watch it all go downhill. On he plus side, Universal are GODS. They rent their great prints directly to any responsible venue with good equipment. I ask as we have just launched our Twitter account (twitter.com/ kinolorberedu) and it is bringing traffic into our new site (www.kinolorberedu.com ). We are dedicated to providing meaningful content, such as articles related to films (and not just our own), and updates about events, such as community screenings.
