Media Services and Digital Production Librarian
The Temple University Libraries seek a creative, experienced, and user-
centered individual to operate our media services unit and be
responsible for transitioning our current media viewing area to a more
technologically robust digital media production lab. We offer an

Responsibilities
The Media Services and Digital Production Librarian manages the media
services unit including: support for the media viewing area and
micromaterials equipment, a rapidly growing 12,000 item media
collection, supervision of staff, and coordination with other
complementary collections and services offered in Paley Library and
elsewhere at Temple. In addition, the incumbent provides experienced
support in the production and editing of digital media, with
responsibility for selecting and maintaining the appropriate hardware
and software, and instructing others in their use. The incumbent will
Oversee the media services unit in the library, ensuring access to
media and equipment to meet user needs for study and scholarship.
Supervise one full-time staff member and student assistants.
Develop and deliver user services for this unit including developing
rich media collections in cooperation with subject specialists;
creating informational and instructional materials in print and
digital formats; and providing group and individual instruction in the
use of equipment and resources.
Evaluate and select hardware and software for the public digital media
lab.
Assist students and faculty in the use of hardware and software for
producing and editing digital media products.
Participate in the conception and production of audio/video promoting
and marketing library services.
Evaluate and implement new and emerging media technologies, develop
and implement format succession and content reformatting plans.
Collect and report statistics, and assess impact of media services on
library users.
Participate in library-wide and campus activities or projects through
service on library and university committees and working groups,
including an established Faculty Media Services Advisory Group.
Qualifications
REQUIRED EDUCATION: ALA accredited MLS.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Familiarity with media content and
technology; some hands-on experience with audio-visual technologies
and digital media production; familiarity with copyright and
preservation issues pertaining to media resources; and the ability to
communicate clearly in writing and orally with individuals and in
group settings such as classroom instruction. Strong commitment to
quality user services.
PREFERRED: Academic media librarianship experience; experience with
Final Cut Studio; organizational skills and evidence of successful
project management; reference/instruction in an academic library;
supervisory experience.
Compensation
Competitive salary and benefits package, including relocation
