Gary: I'm in the process of weeding both a 16mm and a VHS collection from a medium sized college. I'm able to get a report of all titles, all formats and the circ and booking times (not names) for the last 4 years. Given that, I'm able to filter the categories, such as: 1. 16mm AND stream or 2. 16mm AND DVD AND no circulations = withdraw then, I'll do the same with VHS. If there are circs, for either 16mm or VHS, then I'll leave them until the circs drop off. This allowed me to isolate those items that exist in a more current format and have no apparent use. The final weed is yet to come, but we're holding onto some 16mm and some VHS just because of quality or the non-existence of that item in that format, yet.
