Dear Video Lib Colleagues,

The "Notable Videos for Adults," a subcommittee of the Video Roundtable, is
seeking one academic or special librarian to serve on the committee. This is
an extremely rewarding opportunity to participate in a highly regarded national
committee. The committee itself is comprised of a balanced mix of librarians
from academic, public and special libraries. Librarians seeking to join
"Notables" must regularly work in media collections and serve adult
constituencies. Each selected member must serve for two years, and each member
can be re-appointed to another two years; the maximum term is four years.

To maintain its success, the committee-work requires a great deal of time,
communication (between members), and overall commitment. All committee members
are required to:

* Be members of ALA and the Video Round Table (VRT),

* Attend ALA Midwinter for two consecutive years (Dallas and Seattle),

* View and evaluate an extensive number of videos leading up to ALA
Midwinter; (last year, committee members watched approximately 55 videos, many
of them in December and early January.)

If you are interested in serving on the committee, please email me (off-list)
by March 6, 2011. In your email, indicate your membership status with ALA and
VRT, whether you can attend ALA Midwinter, and summarize your experience with
media (i.e., selection, collection development, reviewing, etc.). If you'd
like more information, don't hesitate to email or call.

Mary.

VIDEOLIB is intended to encourage the broad and lively discussion of issues
relating to the selection, evaluation, acquisition, bibliographic control,
preservation, and use of current and evolving video formats in libraries and
related institutions. It is hoped that the list will serve as an effective
working tool for video librarians, as well as a channel of communication
between libraries, educational institutions, and video producers and
distributors.
