After two years of careful development, it is now time to find a nurturing, new
home for the AMERICAN INDIAN FILM GALLERY. To that end, I am seeking an
interested educational institution or faculty member to assume ownership and
direction of this singular website. This is to be an educational donation by
MacDonald & Associates, and the hosting fees for the site (which are minimal)
are fully paid until 2018. Presently, the AIFG has placed 445 documentaries
online. All these films concern the Native American peoples ranging from the
Arctic Circle to Cape Horn. You can find the website at: www.aifilmgallery.com
<http://www.aifilmgallery.com/> My purpose in creating the website was to
present to students, faculty, and the general public an array of overlooked
historical records of the peoples who populated North and South America long
before Europeans arrived. Because my intent was to deepen historical
understanding and stimulate research on a neglected part of the American past,
all films on the AIFG are free to view and download. If your professional
interest is American Indian culture or history, here is a once-in-a-lifetime
opportunity for a university, university department, or faculty member to
assume control of the site. Native American Studies, History, Anthropology,
Sociology, Film Studies: there are many academic homes into which the AIFG
could fit. Perhaps, too, an educational journal or association or museum would
find purpose in this venture. This is an important offer. Maintaining and
expanding this educational resource would establish a discipline-wide
reputation for the hosting institution. It would attract new students, improve
undergrad and graduate education, and open countless avenues for faculty
research and publication. It would also enhance interdisciplinary networking.
In short, this is a career-boosting opportunity. If you are interested in this
exciting offer and would like further information, please contact me directly

VIDEOLIB is intended to encourage the broad and lively discussion of issues
relating to the selection, evaluation, acquisition, bibliographic control,
preservation, and use of current and evolving video formats in libraries and
related institutions. It is hoped that the list will serve as an effective
working tool for video librarians, as well as a channel of communication
between libraries, educational institutions, and video producers and
distributors.
