Read my lips: 10 grand a year! Every year!

I've been corresponding with the Paley re this collection re this over the
past few months. From what I can see, the collection is absolutely
fabulous (I've played around with beta access). But! Lordy! 10 grand a
year for single institutions!

I'm working on trying to get other UC campuses to buy in to a consortial
acquisition of this license, which would lower the price somewhat.

VIDEOLIB is intended to encourage the broad and lively discussion of issues
relating to the selection, evaluation, acquisition, bibliographic control,
preservation, and use of current and evolving video formats in libraries and
related institutions. It is hoped that the list will serve as an effective
working tool for video librarians, as well as a channel of communication
between libraries, educational institutions, and video producers and
distributors.
