Hello collective wisdom, My library director has tasked me with gathering as much information as possible (pricing, subject matter, formats, titles covered) about any multidisciplinary streaming services available for licensing to academic libraries (Angelo State University is a small, public academic institution, with a student population of approximately 7,000 (undergrads + grads)).
I'm familiar with Films for the Humanities and Sciences' Films on Demand service, but I am wondering if any of you know of and can suggest other similar collections. If your institution subscribes to them, what are your impressions, with regards to content, accessibility, round-the-clock availability, technical issues, potential demands on local IT department, etc? I appreciate any and all feedback you can send my way. Kind regards, [cid:[email protected]] Antonella Ward Multimedia Support Librarian/Porter Henderson Library Angelo State University Member, Texas Tech University System ASU Station #11013 San Angelo, TX 76909-1013 Phone: (325) 942-2313 Fax: (325) 942-2198 [email protected]<mailto:[email protected]> ************************************************ "Knowledge is of two kinds. VIDEOLIB is intended to encourage the broad and lively discussion of issues relating to the selection, evaluation, acquisition, bibliographic control, preservation, and use of current and evolving video formats in libraries and related institutions. It is hoped that the list will serve as an effective working tool for video librarians, as well as a channel of communication between libraries, educational institutions, and video producers and distributors.
