Greetings,

A verdict was issued in the Georgia State case yesterday evening.

For a helpful summary and analysis of the case, please visit the most recent
posting on Kevin Smith's blog, Scholarly Communications @ Duke: "The GSU
Decision-- Not an Easy Road For Anyone"

http://blogs.library.duke.edu/scholcomm/

Here is a link to the full text of the case:

I'm still reading the entire text, which is about 350 pages long, but after
reading Kevin Smith's analysis, it's a mixed bag for libraries. For instance,
the judge stated very strict limits on how much of a book can be copied: 10 %
of a book may be copied based on the total pages contained within the book.

Best,

Tammy
VIDEOLIB is intended to encourage the broad and lively discussion of issues
relating to the selection, evaluation, acquisition, bibliographic control,
preservation, and use of current and evolving video formats in libraries and
related institutions. It is hoped that the list will serve as an effective
working tool for video librarians, as well as a channel of communication
between libraries, educational institutions, and video producers and
distributors.
