The University of Tennessee Libraries’ invites applications for the position of 
Electronic Resources Specialist. This position provides leadership for the 
process of investigating, negotiating, and licensing electronic resources in a 
team environment where the life cycle of electronic resources is managed. The 
Electronic Resources Specialist supervises one FTE staff position and reports 
to the Head of Electronic Resources and Serials Management. Responsibilities 
include investigating and comparing vendor products and offers, establishing 
and maintaining effective vendor relations, negotiating and documenting license 
terms and pricing, and collaborating in the management of the Serials Solutions 
electronic resources management system. Required Qualifications: Master’s 
degree from an ALA-accredited program. Professional experience with academic 
online resources and services. Basic understanding of publisher’s licensing and 
business models. Demonstrated excellence in oral and written communication 
skills, analytical problem solving skills, and initiative. Strong 
organizational skills and the ability to respond effectively to changing needs 
and priorities. Knowledge of copyright policies and intellectual property 
issues in academic institutions. Demonstrated experience using Microsoft Excel. 
Preferred Qualifications: Demonstrated experience of success in negotiating. 
Experience in licensing of electronic resources, including reviewing, 
negotiating, analyzing, or drafting license agreements. Experience in contract 
administration. Experience with vendors and content providers, including 
subscription agents, publishers, and library consortia. Serials and electronic 
resources experience in a large academic or research library. Knowledge of 
copyright and fair use issues raised in licensing media resources, including 
video, audio, and images. Experience with a business management software 
program, such as SAP, and database management programs, such as Microsoft

relating to the selection, evaluation, acquisition,bibliographic control, 
preservation, and use of current and evolving video formats in libraries and 
related institutions. It is hoped that the list will serve as an effective 
working tool for video librarians, as well as a channel of communication 
between libraries,educational institutions, and video producers and 
distributors.
