For advertising, there's the classic "Sweet Smell of Success," but
my favorite quirky, indicting film is "How to Get Ahead in
Advertising" with Richard E. Grant. Re: music, there's so many.
"Smithereens," "Times Square" "Desperately Seeking Susan" "This is
Spinal Tap." Just way too many to name. You should look in
Halliwell's or the back of Time Out for subjects. Television, that
semi good film with Jim Carey where he lives his life being filmed,
there was another variation on that theme made a couple of years
later, just cannot think of the titles. Bet you get great responses!

Subject: [Videolib] need film suggestions
Dear CW,
As the beginning of the semester looms, I have received this
question (below). Would love to hear your suggestions. I think
she's looking for feature films.
Thanks!!
I am teaching a course whose theme is American Popular Culture--
Advertising, Television, Popular Music, Technology, Sports and
Movies. If you could suggest 1 popular/notable film related to each
of these themes I would really appreciate it---I like to enhance my
syllabus with films correlated to the themes of the course for the
more visual learners.
