The University of Maryland Libraries is seeking a Media Resources Librarian 
that will provide media resources leadership for the Nonprint Media Services 
Library, the central audiovisual library for the University of Maryland campus 
in College Park.  The Media Resources Librarian: participates in the 
acquisition, development and management of the media collections in physical 
and digital formats, including investigating, identifying, selecting, and 
licensing media resources; assists in the discovery, access and use of media 
materials and collections by students, faculty and staff with special emphasis 
on curricular uses of media; collaborates with the Libraries’ special, digital 
and electronic resources professionals; and anticipates technology/format 
migrations and upgrades and identifies older materials for conversion and 
preservation.


Requirements:

  *   MLS degree from an ALA-accredited institution of higher education;
  *   Basic understanding of academic media, media technology, and film history 
and theory;
  *   Knowledge of copyright policies and intellectual property issues in 
academic institutions;
  *   Demonstrated excellence in oral and written communication skills, and 
analytical problem solving skills;
  *   Strong organizational skills and the ability to respond effectively to 
changing needs and priorities.
