Hello All!

THE FAIRY has been selected as a Featured Film for the 2013-14
Tournees Festival!

ABOUT THE TOURNEES FESTIVAL:

The Tournées Festival is a program of FACE (French American Cultural
Exchange), in partnership with the Cultural Services of the French
Embassy, which aims to bring contemporary French cinema to American
college and university campuses. The program distributes close to
$200,000 in grants annually to encourage schools to begin their own
self-sustaining French film festivals. Now in its 18th year, The
Tournées Festival has partnered with more than 400 universities,
making it possible for more than 500,000 students to discover
French-language films.

We are pleased to offer a wide variety of films that represent the
best of contemporary French cinema. The films span generational and
geographic borders, offer a range of genres and subjects, and showcase
innovations in both style and storytelling. There are films by
first-time directors alongside those from respected and revered
figures in French cinema.

Please note the two application deadlines:
June 30th for those who wish to present the program in the fall
semester, and October 1st for those planning a spring program.

ABOUT THE FAIRY:
"The Fairy deftly employs timeless slapstick within an
absurdist-surreal narrative that recalls the work of Jacques Tati. A
fun romp, this is highly recommended." - Video Librarian, 3 1/2 stars

Dom works as a night clerk at a small hotel in the industrial port
city of Le Havre. One night, a strangely dressed woman named Fiona
arrives and claims she is a fairy. She grants Dom three wishes, and
makes his first two wishes come true before mysteriously vanishing. By
now, Dom has fallen in love with Fiona, and he proceeds to embark on a
search for his elusive fairy. The third feature film by the gifted
trio of physical comedians Dominique Abel, Fiona Gordon, and Bruno
Romy, THE FAIRY presents a series of slapstick set pieces which hark
back to the work of Charlie Chaplin, Buster Keaton, and Jacques Tati.

relating to the selection, evaluation, acquisition, bibliographic control,
preservation, and use of current and evolving video formats in libraries and
related institutions. It is hoped that the list will serve as an effective
working tool for video librarians, as well as a channel of communication
between libraries, educational institutions, and video producers and
