Thanks, Jessica -- this looks really interesting! I'll definitely be keeping an eye out for a dvd release -- hope that works out for the filmmaker. This is for a class syllabus, so there won't be any film series-type screenings.

Speaking of children and sexual / gender identity, I have talked to the instructor about the film Tomboy, which I'm hoping will be a good addition to her syllabus.

Best,
Meghann

This one technically misses your cut off by a year but it had almost no US distribution and it is a very interesting film on sexual identity seen through the eyes of a young girl. I had a very brief dealing with the director who kind of got screwed releasing it. If you are interested I can give you her email as she can handle shows herself. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1404653/ <http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1404653/>

Thanks, Farhad. Yes, these have already both been used in past
semesters (in several classes here, actually). That's part of
what always makes this search so tricky -- we've done a pretty
thorough job ferreting out previous years' gems. -- Meghann

I was going to suggest "Offside" and "Persepolis" from Iran. But

*Subject:* [Videolib] Suggestions for Feature Films / Women &
    Gender in World Cinema

    Dear Collective Brain,

I have a women's studies professor who teaches a class about
women's issues in world cinema every fall. (Documentaries in the
spring, so for this instance I'm appealing for help in the
relatively recent feature film sector only please.) So, here is
my annual plea for brainstorming help on this nebulous topic.
Have you seen a feature film from a country outside the U.S. that
deals with gender or women's issues in the past year or so? Please note: MUST be a feature film (NO documentaries), and MUST
    be from 2010 or later.

    Thanks in advance!
