Greetings! The Video Round Table (VRT) will be sponsoring two panel discussions
this June at ALA Annual in Las Vegas: Video Librarianship 101 (Academic
Librarians) and Video Librarianship (Public Librarians.) We are particularly in
need of A/V public librarians who could speak on any one of the four following
areas:

*         Collection development

*         Streaming

*         DVD security issues

*         Programming

The program has been scheduled for Sunday morning, June 29th, beginning at 8:30
and lasting until 10:00. Each speaker would be asked give a 10-12 minute
presentation, allowing for questions at the end.

It promises to be a lively, informative program. Please volunteer if you can!
Please let me know by no later than Friday, February 28th. Either email me
directly or give me a phone call at one of the two numbers listed below.

A fuller description of our program can be found below.

Best,
Elizabeth

Video Librarianship 101 (Public Libraries) Are you a brand new Media Librarian?
Or are you a librarian who suddenly finds yourself in some way having to deal
with video issues? Not sure you what you are doing? Not sure what you should be
doing? Panic no more! This program is designed specifically to help you learn
the basics of video librarianship. Our panel of speakers will be taking on such
topics as building the best video collection for your community; streaming; DVD
security issues; and putting on that film series that will absolutely wow your
community. There will be time available for questions, discussion, and the
sharing of success stories.

VIDEOLIB is intended to encourage the broad and lively discussion of issues
relating to the selection, evaluation, acquisition,bibliographic control,
preservation, and use of current and evolving video formats in libraries and
related institutions. It is hoped that the list will serve as an effective
working tool for video librarians, as well as a channel of communication
between libraries,educational institutions, and video producers and
distributors.
