That could explain the running joke that he looked like Boris Karloff, who
played the Frankenstein monster in the 1931 movie. Fred Gwynne played Herman
Munster, a character who looked like Frankenstein's monster.

According IMDB (see below), Fred Gwynne played Jonathon Brewster in the 1969
television production.

Cheers!

Nearly impossible to get rights for TV productions from that era ( not too much
easier for later ones) but has it even been legally released at all?
Um wait I looked it up not only is it not released KARLOFF IS NOT IN IT. My
guess is someone is confused because there is running joke in the play about
Brewster LOOKING like Karloff who was in the original Broadway production. You
might try THE OLD DARK HOUSE which you could license from Cohen Media ( not an
easy one to figure)

Hello,

I am hoping that someone out there will know who I need to contact to get the
Public Performance Rights to show the (1969?) TV version of "Arsenic and Old
Lace" to a small group of patrons at our library. It has Boris Karloff playing
Jonathan Brewster in it, and we're doing a short series of films starring
Karloff. It would be wonderful to share this one with them.

Thanks for any help you can offer.
Patricia
