Last year BBC America did a highly successful series of free films about
WW1 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the start of the "Great War"
These were done as FREE screenings in various theaters and non profit film
venues around the United States. This year BBC America will commemorating
the 70th anniversary of WW2 in August with another trove of programs. Again
these will be done mostly in theaters ( starting with all the same ones
from last year who loved it) but I would like to open it up to at least
some libraries. I don't mean to be to cryptic but I am not going to list
the specific programs except that there are currently 4 feature films all
based on real events, many with very recognizable actors. Three have never
shown in the US and the 4th has been unavailable for over 12 years.

I am honestly looking for public libraries because these should be shows
open and publicized to the entire community but if there are Universities
out there that have done that feel free to ask. Since theaters will
basically get first dibs, there are many areas I won't be able to consider
( sorry DC, Philadelphia, Detroit and many others).

The basic deal is this. they are available in August ONLY, there can be no
admission, you may NOT keep the copy, ( most will be releases shortly after
but not my department). you must show at least 3.

If you are interested and want further information ( like the titles)
contact me and best to use BBC email address below.

Since this is free programming rather than anything for sale I am posting
on videolib which I hope is OK

VIDEOLIB is intended to encourage the broad and lively discussion of issues
relating to the selection, evaluation, acquisition, bibliographic control,
preservation, and use of current and evolving video formats in libraries and
related institutions. It is hoped that the list will serve as an effective
working tool for video librarians, as well as a channel of communication
between libraries, educational institutions, and video producers and
distributors.
