With today's news that North American Video is closing its last two stores  
(see link below), I have fond recollections of sharing VSDA panel 
presentations  & ECVS roundtable discussions with founding owner Gary Messenger 
back 
in the  '80s... a true pioneer in the wonderful world of brick & mortar 
video  retailing who helped inspire Vide-O-Go's foray in the early development 
of the  special interest and "how-to" product category. A quarter century 
later,  competitive forces and disruptive technologies along with shifting 
lifestyle  preferences all offer retailing challenges. So kudos to our industry 
colleague  and recent North American store owner, Chip Williams, for his 
work ethic and  risk tolerance that kept him in the game!
