Subject: [Videolib] Now Showing @ ALA: Killswitch | 2015 ALA Annual Conference

Greetings:

In addition to CitizenFour http://alaac15.ala.org/node/30936

I'm so pleased that Killswitch will be shown! http://alaac15.ala.org/node/30938
Killswitch is about the battle for control over the Internet. Lawrence Lessig,
Tim Wu and Peter Ludlow frame the story of two young hactivists, Aaron Swartz &
Edward Snowden, who symbolize the disruptive and dynamic nature of the
Internet. Their lives parallel one another as they free information to millions
on the Internet, putting them directly in the cross-hairs of the most powerful
interests in the world. Will this be a cautionary tale of what happens when you
dare to take on elite power structures? Or will it be the spark that ignites a
revolution that will redefine democracy in the digital age? Runtime: 72 minutes

I also see Regarding Susan Sontag http://alaac15.ala.org/node/30940

Should be great films to watch!

Best,

Cathy

VIDEOLIB is intended to encourage the broad and lively discussion of issues
relating to the selection, evaluation, acquisition, bibliographic control,
preservation, and use of current and evolving video formats in libraries and
related institutions. It is hoped that the list will serve as an effective
working tool for video librarians, as well as a channel of communication
between libraries, educational institutions, and video producers and
distributors.
