This is an offer for free WW2 themed feature films from BBC America
Worldwide that are not on video and not for sale ( thus posting on videolib)
I posted this a few weeks ago but had to be kind of cryptic and not list
titles but I can now.

August marks the 70th anniversary of the end of WW2 and BBC America
Worldwide will be working with theatrical venues around the country to show
4 free films ( we did this highly successfully last year for 100th
anniversary of WW1) and I figured we could open this up to libraries in
cities where a theater was not showing them.If you are interested, let me
know and I will check if there is any conflict with another venue.

Films are free,no admission can be charged, must be open to the public and
outreach/publicity is encouraged. All copies MUST be returned after showing.
They are available for August shows only and library must show at least
three ( sorry no single shows)

Here are the available films, only one has been available in the US and it
has been out of print for 12 years, the others are all new. None of these
are actually military war films" but involve a variety of fascinating
issues behind the World War Two . All run about 90 minutes and the IMDB
listing is linked

Copenhagen <http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0340057/?ref_=nv_sr_2> Made by BBC
in 2002 and based on the award winning play ( which I saw on Broadway) by
Michael Frayn it is about the 1941 meeting of Danish physicist Neils Bohr
and his former protégé Werner Heisenberg now the top physicist in Nazi
Germany and Bohr’s wife Margrethe. Stars Daniel Craig, Stephen Rea and
Francesca Annis. Aired on PBS in 2002 not seen since, DVD out of print for
over a decade. Very good and star studded though hardly new it is long
unavailable

Castles in the Sky <http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3311900/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1>
starring Eddie Izzard as Robert Watson Watt the pioneer of radar who fought
the scientific establishment to get radar working in time to spot Nazi
attacks.

Wodehouse in Exile <http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2735760/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1> Stars
Tim-Piggot Smith (a truly underrated actor everything from The Jewel in the
Crown to Bloody Sunday) to as P.G Wodehouse who was initially interned by
the Nazi’s when they invaded France where he was living and later used by
the Nazi’s for propaganda. Whether he understood what he was doing remains
a controversy to this day.

<http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1949551/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1>
Hitler on Trial <http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1949551/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1> True
story about a Jewish Lawyer who forced Hitler to testify in a 1933 trial.
Very good but FAR from a happy end.

Stars Ed Stoppard . Ian Hart and Bill Patterson.

VIDEOLIB is intended to encourage the broad and lively discussion of issues
relating to the selection, evaluation, acquisition, bibliographic control,
preservation, and use of current and evolving video formats in libraries and
related institutions. It is hoped that the list will serve as an effective
working tool for video librarians, as well as a channel of communication
between libraries, educational institutions, and video producers and
distributors.
