Dear collective wisdom,

I'm often asked about a resource for creating or storing film clips for
teaching so the professor doesn't have to find scenes and switch out
several DVDs in-class. One professor writes:

I usually rip clips from dvds because I want to be able to get the exact
moment/ scene rather than having to go through the whole dvd or even load
the dvd and then go through each chapter.
Ideally, I would love to have a *database with clips* I've curated as well
as maybe *access clips other people have curated*. So, one section would be
examples of close-ups in films or even something broader like, production
design examples in films.

Does anybody have products or resources they like? Thanks in advance!

VIDEOLIB is intended to encourage the broad and lively discussion of issues
relating to the selection, evaluation, acquisition, bibliographic control,
preservation, and use of current and evolving video formats in libraries and
related institutions. It is hoped that the list will serve as an effective
working tool for video librarians, as well as a channel of communication
between libraries, educational institutions, and video producers and
distributors.
