GOING TO SCHOOL (IR A LA ESCUELA) brings us into the lives of children and
youth with disabilities in a Los Angeles middle school. The cinema verite
bilingual documentary is described as "poignant" "must see" "uplifting"
"eye-opening" "important" and "highly recommended".

Scenes shot in special education and inclusive classrooms show the
determination of young students to learn. These stories are filmed against a
backdrop of the historic campaign by parents and teachers to protect the Human
Rights of children with disabilities in public schools. At the Parents'
Resource Network, a trailer parked outside the school district headquarters, a
mother tearfully seeks help from a parent advocate. Together they prepare for
an IEP (Individualized Education Program) session for her daughter. The
guidance one mother receives from another fills her with confidence and a
smile. In another scene, the Superintendent of Los Angeles Unified School
District meets with mothers of children with disabilities to discuss inclusion,
integration, discrimination and what he can and cannot accomplish.

GOING TO SCHOOL (IR A LA ESCUELA) is a story for the entire community. The film
captivates and informs families, policy makers, the public, students and
teachers at all academic levels.
